Prayers and support for my friend Marie

My good friend Marie is set to have her brain surgery next week. You can read about it on the blog link to the right. If you have ever met her you will know that she is a typical Type -A personality. She never stops going, going, going. Part of her movement and ability to keep going is due to her Parkinsons disease and the side effects, the other I believe is just her desire to enjoy life.

So she will be undergoing this radical surgery to help decrease her symptoms and increase her joy of life which includes her two beautiful sons, her husband and extended family.

Please say a prayer of healing for her during this time, and offer support in any way you can.

Black History Month

Last Sunday I attended a very special little church in Fremont called Misson Way Baptist Church. They were celebrating Black History Month. There was lively music and wonderful food. I wanted to thank everyone there for making me feel at home. Pastor Larry and his congregation made me feel part of their church family. I had a great time. Thank you.

Slugs and Snails and puppy Dog Tails

Just a quick post to say thanks to Dr. Lynn DVM for saving my dog Shelby's life on Christmas Day. She was so kind and patient with us during a very stressful time. Also thanks to the kind receptionist/vet assistant at Ohlone Pet hospital. You were fantastic.

New Haven and New York

I can't believe it has already been a month since I got back from my New Haven/New York trip. My friend Marie asked me to travel with her to some medical tests she was having at Yale University. Our friend Brandi also traveled with us. We had the worlds best driver named Luis Papon. He drove us all around New York City, and New Haven for 4 days. My most memorable sight/tour was that of the Statue of Liberty. When I look at her I think about how my ancestors felt when they saw her for the first time when they came to America from Ireland.
Overall I had a wonderful experience on the East Coat. New York City at night was spectacular. We visited my relatives Massachusetts and had a nice picnic lunch before we drove to the coast.

I had so much fun with the "girls" I really hope to go back to the East Coast again.

Soccer Season is here!

It must be soccer season again, because every where I step in my tiny house there is a soccer ball, shin guard or water bottle.

I have also had lots of soccer teams call me to take their team photos. Usually I meet at their practice location and take their team and individual photos. They are delivered to the Team Mom with in two weeks.

Relay for Life Fremont

Today was the Relay for Life in Fremont. When I heard the event needed a photographer, I set up a photo booth and took complimentary photos of the cancer survivors who registered at the event. I had some help from a really great young teenager, together we photographed about 35 people.

This was a very rewarding experience. I don't know exactly how to describe the feeling, except to say that every time I took a picture, I looked over at my assistant and said, "I am really am having a great time, this makes me feel good."
It was kind of funny because she said the same thing. So enough of all this wishy washy stuff to find out for yourself what a Relay for Life is all about, join me and my friends and family in Newark, Ca on July 19th.

Baby A

I just had to share this little guy. He just turned one year old. He is not quite walking, so he felt comfortable sitting in my basket, suitcase or the little red wagon. He had so many different expressions, and goofy little grins, this one makes me laugh out loud.

Relay for Life - Newark-2008

Mark your calender for July 19 and 20th.
This year Relay for Life will be at Newark Jr High School. We need more teams and people to volunteer at the event. This year I am setting up a little "photo booth" for the survivors to have their portrait taken. This will be my gift to them. Anyone else who wants a photo will have to make a $5.00 minimum donation.
Here is a link to my web page http://main.acsevents.org/goto/MaryBessler
Feel free to make a donation to the American Cancer Society, or just come out to the event and support us.
I look forward to seeing you there!
Mary

Patty and Abigail Rock San Ramon

www.pattyandabigail.com/
Patty is a good friend of mine and also a very good personal fitness trainer. For years I have been meaning to hear her and Abigail play. So today the girls and I went to the San Ramon Wind and Wine Festival to hear them play. Their music is a mix of rock, country, folk, they are fun and entertaining to listen to. They will be playing on Main Street in Pleasanton on June 4th from 6-9pm.
